Giving Back this Christmas

It’s easy around Christmas time to get caught up in the craziness of presents, food, shopping, wrapping and decorating. Don’t get me wrong, I love all of these things, but I also like to remember others during this time that may not be as fortunate. This year, I decided to contact two organizations in my home town and ask them what items they were short of around this time of year. I went shopping for some of the items, as well as found things around my house! I wrapped up two big boxes and got them ready for these organizations. My only hope is that this small gesture can help someone else during the holidays! For more ideas on how to give back this season, check out a small list of ideas that I put together at the end of this post. I hope this encourages you to do a small act of kindness this month and to stop and appreciate all of the things you are thankful for!

Ways to Give Back during the Holidays:

1. Give away some of your old clothes to a consignment shop
2. Instead of buying for each other, purchase gifts for a family in need
3. Pay for the person behind you in the drive-thru
4. Pick up an extra turkey for your city’s turkey drive
5. Volunteer your time with any of your local charities
6. Invite a less fortunate family over for a nice meal
7. Offer to babysit for a family with small children to give the parents a break
8. Host a party and ask your guests to bring items for your local food bank
9. Bake your favorite recipe and bring them along while visiting a hospital or seniors home
10. Have your children donate some of their old toys before Santa brings them new ones
